Lincoln City Football Club and The Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce have had a good relationship for a number of years and this season has seen the Chamber support the Club by sponsoring one of the first team players in the form of Argentinean midfielder, Sergio Torres.
The Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce logo can be seen proudly alongside Sergio’s name on the Kit Sponsor’s page in the matchday programme following the agreement to sponsor the player for the 2009/10 season. This is one of the fantastic benefits of the kit sponsors package which is on offer at the football club. The Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce will also receive a signed photo of Sergio, both his home and away actual match worn playing shirts when the season comes to an end, a pair of tickets to a game and acknowledgment on Torres’ player profile page on the Club’s official website redimps.com. There is also the option of meeting the player at the end of season awards dinner held in May where the players sit with their respective sponsors for a three course meal and the presentation of seasonal trophies.

My Story is about finding remarkable true stories of ordinary people that could be turned into bestselling books. We’re looking for extra-ordinary true life stories from all over Britain. Within the business world, your story might be one of rags to riches, losing everything and starting again, inventing something incredible, overcoming great challenges and turning your life around, doing something inspirational within the business community or none of those. Fifteen people's stories will be told in a major new five part series to go out next year on BBC1. Five of these people will win book deals plus a cash advance of £20,000.
My Story is not a writing competition as the winning stories will be ghostwritten by the publisher Harper Collins, but if your story is chosen, your name would appear on the cover of your own book. Applications should be made via the website www.bbc.co.uk/mystory
Please add a summary of your story in no more than 1500 words. All applications should be written in English or Welsh. If applicants don't have access to the internet, please apply via post to My Story, PO Box 65655 London W12 2BG.
The closing dates for entries is 16th December 2009.
As in previous years, the Pre-Budget Report due to be delivered on Wednesday the 9th of December 2009 promises yet again to be far more exciting than the budget. As we head towards a general election in 2010, will Alistair Darling be more of a Dick Turpin than a Robin Hood? Please join us at this free seminar, where our team of tax specialists will be on hand to give you a complete analysis of the pre-budget report, our reaction to it, and how it will affect you as an individual, and your business. Bacon baps and refreshments will be provided.
Sponsors, Buckles Solicitors, staged a Have I Got News For You-style event to give businessmen and women from Stamford and beyond an insight into a diverse range of important issues including pre-nuptial agreements, the property market and the dangers posed by the use of social networking sites in the workplace.
James Coppinger, Buckles’ Head of Construction, had the task of keeping two teams featuring solicitors Charles Applegate, Donna Sandall, Christina Merrington and Michael Blank in check during the event at The Crown Hotel in Stamford.
Family solicitor Donna came to the fore in a quick-fire round on pre-nuptials while Charles, a partner in the wills and probate department, discussed the importance of making a will. Michael, a partner in the commercial property department, filled the audience in on the latest ups and downs in the property market and Christina, Head of Employment, discussed the potential pitfalls of using social networking sites at work.
Following the innovative and informative session, guests were free to network over lunch.

The draft Flamborough Head to Gibraltar Point Shoreline Management Plan has been released today for a 3-month consultation period ending on Friday 5 February 2010. The Plan covers the coast between Flamborough Head in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Gibraltar Point in Lincolnshire, including the outer Humber Estuary. The organisations involved in preparing the Plan are: East Riding of Yorkshire Council, North East Lincolnshire Council, East Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire County Council, the Environment Agency, Natural England, English Heritage and the National Farmers' Union.
The Plan will put policies in place to sustainably manage coastal flooding and erosion for the next 100 years. This is of vital importance to everyone living or working at the coast. The Plan will also affect the way the natural and historic environment is managed in coastal areas.
At this stage, the Shoreline Management Plan is a draft document. Following the consultation period, the organisations involved in preparing the Plan will agree the changes required to it based on the comments received during the consultation period. Please let us know what you think of the policies being proposed via the feedback form on the Shoreline Management Plan website, http://www.hecag-smp2.co.uk/
The Shoreline Management Plan main document and some of the key supporting appendices are also available to download on the website.
We will be holding two stakeholder events where we will present some of the work undertaken and request comments and feedback about the draft policies. These events are provisionally planned for the week commencing 11 January 2010. In addition, there will be a series of public exhibitions in December which you would be very welcome to attend. The venues and dates are given below:
As part of the Lincolnshire Marie Curie Cancer Care’s, ‘Don’t waste your waste’ appeal, we are asking everyone to save their Christmas stamps and other items to help raise funds to support the local Marie Curie Nurses.
If anyone receives a new mobile phone for Christmas, please could we have the old one? For those going abroad during the festivities and return with a few spare coins, may we have them? Or if you receive any un-wanted presents, we could make use of these in our raffles and Tombolas. All the money raised from these items will be used to help support the Marie Curie Nurses in Lincolnshire who provide high quality nursing, totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families. Last year the Marie Curie Nurses in Lincolnshire provided 52,048 hours of home nursing care to 929 patients.
Please send all items to Judy Glossop, Marie Curie Cancer Care, 7c Commercial Road, Grantham, NG31 6DB.
A vacancy has arisen for a Principal Youth Officer who would be a Senior Volunteer in the County team. Click here for more information.
