The current Lincoln Area of the county chamber has its roots back to 1889 when it was established as the Lincoln Incorporated Chamber of Commerce. Its role then, as now, was to serves the business interests of its members by acting as their spokesman on a wide range of subjects and to support and encourage business in Lincoln and the surrounding areas. It has retained independence through being run by its members for its members, whilst maintaining a non political and non profit making identity
The areas decision making body is the elected Council. (click here for a list of currently elected members) Its members meet on a bi- monthly basis and its activities are supplemented by sub committees specialising in Local affairs, Tourism, Business Development and the Lincoln Business Improvement Group.
